Specialist Subjects Specialist teaching is delivered to all students over a two year period in the curriculum areas of Science, Technology, Food Technology, Performing Arts, Media, Japanese and Spanish language. Students will rotate through courses in these curriculum subjects throughout the year. Syndicates of classes are divided among the specialist teachers to provide an average specialist class size of 20 students. While students from home room classes attend the specialist teaching programme their home room teachers are involved in curriculum coordination time. This time enables teachers to meet during the school day to collaborate on planning and preparation, assessment and professional development. This time also allows for the sharing of resources and ideas on how best they can improve and connect the curriculum to promote deeper understanding and higher levels of engagement for students. |
