Enrolment Timeline

Week 9 + 10 Term 2 - Open Days for in-zone primary schools

In Weeks 9 and 10 of Term 2, we invite our in-zone Primary Schools into our school to provide them with an Intermediate experience. They leave the day with a Prospectus and an enrolment form.

Monday 13th May - Enrolments open for 2020

In-zone and out-of-zone forms are the same. They are available online and from the office.

Wednesday, 31st July 6.30pm - Open Night for all prospective 2020 families

This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to come along and get some information about Waikowhai Intermediate, ask some questions and have a talk with senior leaders about our school. Your children are also welcome to attend.

Wednesday, 7th August 9.20am to 11.20am - Open Day for all prospective 2020 families

This day is for parents, caregivers and their children to come to Waikowhai Intermediate and have a walk around with some of our students to see our school on a 'normal' day. Please come any time before 11.20am.

4pm Wednesday 4th September - Out-of-zone applications close

This date is decided by the Ministry of Education. Please have your applications in before this date to be in the ballot. If you miss the ballot, there may be a second ballot if spaces are still available, but this cannot be guaranteed.  Last year, we were able to accept all enrolments received by this date, and anticipate the same again this year.

Wednesday 11th September - Out-of-zone ballot

This date is decided by the Ministry of Education. Priority in the ballot is determined by the Ministry of Education and is in the following order: Siblings of current students, Siblings of past students, Child of a past student, Child of Board of Trustee member or employee, All other applicants. Within three school days after the ballot, families will either be posted an offer of place which they will have 14 days to accept, or families will be informed of the place they have on the waiting list.

Friday 27th September - In-zone applications to be received

To help with our planning, as well as managing our class sizes, please make sure your applications are in on time.

Friday 29th November 9.00am to 9.55am - Year 6 students visit to meet classes and teachers for 2020

All 2020 Year 7 students meet in the hall for a 9.00am start. This is an important day on our school calendar. All enrolments that are accepted are placed into their 2020 classes on this day so they can meet their classmates and teacher. We find this is very useful to orientate children to Waikowhai Intermediate and take away any anxiety that they may have over the summer break.
