Enrolment Process for 2023
Waikowhai Intermediate now offers electronic enrolments. To access the electronic enrolment form:

Enter our unique school code '1548'
Fill in the form.
The parts of the enrolment form that are highlighted in pink are compulsory fields. The system will not allow you to proceed to the next page until these fields are completed. You will notice on some pages you will be asked to upload various documents. When documents have been uploaded correctly, the file name will turn blue. If your documents fail to load you can still proceed to the next page of the enrolment form. If you have problems uploading these documents, these can be sent directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. An enrolment cannot be fully processed without supporting documentation.
Supporting documentation needed are:
Eligibility criteria – this can be a New Zealand Birth Certificate, New Zealand Passport, Citizenship Certificate or a Student Visa
NZ born student – Birth Certificate
NZ Citizen – New Zealand Passport or Citizenship Certificate
Non NZ Citizen – Student Visa or Permanent Resident Visa
Proof of Address – a utility bill/rental agreement, something that has your name and address on it. This is only needed for in zone applications.
Immunisation Forms – if your child is immunised, please provide a copy of their records.
Cybersafety Contract – this needs to be signed and dated by the student and parent/caregiver. A chrome book will not be issued without a signed copy of this contract.
For those unable to do this, you can still access the enrollment form from the tab below. This can be scanned and emailed to email@example.com. Alternatively, you can pop into the school office during school hours and collect a hard copy.
Thursday 28th July 6.30 - 8pm - Open Night for all prospective 2023 families.
This is an opportunity for parents and caregivers to come along and get some information about Waikowhai Intermediate, ask some questions and have a talk with senior leaders about our school. Your children are welcome to attend.
Thursday 4th August 9.15 -11.15am - Open Morning for all prospective 2023 families.
This day is for parents, caregivers and their children to come to Waikowhai Intermediate and have a walk around with some of our students to see our school on a 'normal' day. Please come any time before 11.15.
Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th July - Visits from in-zone primary schools to Waikowhai Intermediate.
Thursday 1st September - Out of Zone applications close at 4pm
Please have your applications in before this date to be in the ballot, there may be a second ballot if spaces are still available, but this cannot be guaranteed. Last year, we were able to accept all enrolments received by this date, and anticipate the same again this year.
Thursday 8th September - Out of zone ballot
Within three school days after the ballot, families will either be emailed on offer of place which they will have 14 days to accept, or families will be informed of the place they have on the waiting list. If notification has not been received by this time, the place will be offered to another family.
Friday 30th September - In-zone applications to be submitted
To help with our planning, as well as managing our class sizes, please make sure your applications are in on time.
Friday 25th November - 9.00 - 9.55am - Year 6 students visit to meet classes and teachers for 2023.
All 2023 Year 7 students meet in the hall for a 9.00am start. this is an important day on our school calendar. All enrolments that are accepted are placed into their 2023 classes on this day so they can meet their classmates and teacher. We find this is very useful to orientate children to Waikowhai Intermediate and take away any anxiety that they may have over the summer break.
Start dates for 2023:
Tuesday 31st January - Year 7 students
Please come and sit down in the school hall by 8.15am. This is a day for our year 7 students only
Wednesday 1st February - year 8 students start. Please go straight to your classroom.
