Students at Waikowhai Intermediate have the opportunity to enrich their musical talents through a variety of avenues, including rock & jazz bands.

Waikowhai also hosts 'MusiqHub', which offers lessons for the following instruments:

Rock Band
 
Every year, Waikowhai holds auditions to find talented musicians to be part of our Rock band legacy.  Our Rock bands rehearse and perform at school under the watchful eye of our talented band tutor.  For the past 5 years, we have entered the 'Smokefree Bandquest' competition. As well as taking out the title of 'Best Intermediate Band' in 2014 and 2015, we have also come home with Best Female Vocalist, Best Drummer, Bass Guitarist and Best Keyboard Player.  It is a wonderful opportunity for our musical students.
