Kapa Haka

Throughout the years, Waikōwhai Intermediate's kapa haka has been invited to perform at other school galas, local community events, council events, matariki celebrations, official opening ceremonies, citizenship ceremonies, and more.  Our kapa haka is diverse and students are proud to represent their school - the passion within each performance is incredible.

The legacy Waikōwhai Intermediate kapa haka will leave behind is the challenge to continue to grow and revitalise the significance and importance of te reo Māori within ourselves.

My success should not be bestowed onto me alone, it was not individual success but the success of a collective

Each year, the ten schools within our Kāhui Ako are invited to come together to perform for the community. Each school showcases one item, with the final performance a collaboration of all schools.

The video here is from the 2022 archives, but is an excellent display of the talent our kapa haka has.
