Regular attendance at school matters. Being at school every day helps students build strong learning habits, develop confidence, and stay connected to their classmates and teachers. Each day of learning builds on the last—when students miss school, they miss important steps that support progress in reading, writing, mathematics, and all areas of the curriculum.
Coming to school regularly also supports wellbeing. Students learn best when they feel a sense of belonging, routine, and connection. School is a place where friendships grow, positive relationships are formed, and children learn the skills they need for life beyond the classroom.
We know that families and schools work together to support attendance. When students are present, engaged, and ready to learn, they are better set up for success—now and in the future.
